Autoimmune hepatitis is a chronic condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks liver cells, causing inflammation and potential damage. It has two main types: Type 1, which is more common and often linked to other autoimmune diseases, and Type 2, which is less common and typically affects younger individuals.

Symptoms include fatigue, joint pain, and jaundice, though some individuals may not exhibit symptoms until the disease progresses. Treatment involves medications like corticosteroids to reduce inflammation and prevent complications. The exact causes are not well understood, but genetic predisposition and environmental triggers are believed to play roles in its development (Jadhav & More, 2025).
